Anorexia stems from fear.
Fear of being 'out of control'.
The person with anorexia has been in a situation before that was 'out of control'. Perhaps during childhood. Perhaps a long time ago. Perhaps it was something that was never discussed. Perhaps it was something that was overlooked, ignored.
But whatever this earlier situation was, this out of control situation, the result was deep emotional pain.
I will be discussing this in-depth. In the meantime, I invite anyone with questions to send me an email so that I can try to address these issues.

Mary, I loved your book. I think this is so helpful for anyone growing up who has experienced being 'out of control'. But, even more it allows parents whose children are exhibiting signs of eating disorders how to gain insight into what their child may be thinking, experiencing, and how to talk to them. As we all know, talking to your kids sometimes is not the easiest thing...
